Residential Specialist

Position Summary

The Residential Specialist will function as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing recovery-oriented, person-centered care at Recovery Place Seattle Inpatient Services. The Residential Specialist responsibilities include ensuring property and resident safety, collaborating with program staff to reinforce behavior expectations and support resident goals. This position requires overnight hours during the weekdays and weekends and includes shift differential hours.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrate effective engagement skills with individuals who have experienced trauma, homelessness, and related challenges.
  • Assist Residents with meeting day to day needs, e.g. getting to lectures, facilitating meals, orienting to the facility.
  • Monitor the unit environment & Residents, ensuring a safe & secure area.
  • Facilitate community recreational activities, e.g. community group, outdoors exercise
  • Mediate and/or de-escalate resident conflict as needed.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to identify and support residents’ goals.
  • Additional duties as assigned

EDUCATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Preference given to qualified substance use disorder professional in training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY

  • Familiarity with issues related to homelessness and substance use.
  • Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care principles and service provision.
