OLDER ADULT SERVICES

OLDER ADULT SERVICES:
Established in 1976, our Older Adult Services program is designed to meet the mental health needs of older adults and their families Services can be obtained at any of our service locations as well as in several area nursing homes, in Senior Centers and in client homes, if necessary.

Nursing Home Program:
Older Adult Services contracts with a number of nursing and rehabilitation facilities throughout King County to provide a full range of services to clients and their families. Our interdisciplinary team consists of a psychiatrist, Master's level Geriatric Mental Health Specialist, Registered Counselors and Case Managers.

This team provides consultation services to facility staff. By meeting with nursing home administrators, medical staff and rehabilitation specialists, the team helps ensure teamwork and service coordination, which improves understanding of the challenges facing older adults, and keeps each staff member informed about treatment methods and concerns.

Depending on individual client needs, services include:

  • Psychiatric services such as evaluations and assessment for treatment needs; medication management and monitoring

  • Individual supportive therapy and psychotherapy

  • Group therapy

  • Work with multidisciplinary facility teams, including facility and primary care physicians to provide:
    • Consultation services, education, and adjunct treatment planning

  • In-service training

  • Case management liaison with other community services

All clients are referred by their primary care physician and present symptoms range from depression to dementia.
