Support for Parents and Caregivers
Peer Support provides counseling and support for families of children and youth with complex behavioral and emotional challenges. Parent peers draw on their shared experiences as a parent/caretaker with raising a child receiving services from the mental health system. Peers encourage parents/caregivers to regain hope in and control of their own lives as well as their children’s lives. They promote self-determination, empowerment, personal responsibility for recovery and wellness, and assist parents/caregivers with advocating for themselves and their children. They also assist families in discovering and creating a community and natural supports.
